About Us

In order to create opportunity and to counter the imminent shortage of skilled labour we offer an extensive range of training courses in the fields of metal work, electrics and mechatronics. Beside our own apprentices we train apprentices from most of the well-known companies in the Upper Palantine region, organise training courses, help with exam preparation and teach specialist knowledge. This kind of support not only disburdens companies enormously but gives some of them the possibility to offer apprenticeships in the industrial and technical field in the first place. At the same time our courses guarantee apprentices highest competency and the latest in specialised knowlegde in first-rate conditions for vocational training. On average about 250 apprentices attend our courses per year.

In close cooperation with the German Federal Employment Agency we develop new vocational courses in retraining and further training and conduct them successfully. The goal at the BBZ is to create a comprehensive vocational programme for the entire Upper Palantine region and to participate actively in the further development of the people and the economy of the Upper Palantine region.

History

Vocational training has a long tradition at the BERUFS-BILDUNGS-ZENTRUM (BBZ) Schwandorf. Its origin can be traced back to a training centre for apprentices that was founded in 1938 by the iron and steel producing industrial company Maxhütte. In the years that followed the institution expanded into metal technology and electrotechnics. In 1993 the Schweißtechnische Lehr- und Versuchsantalt SLV München GmbH (Academy and Laboratory for Welding Technology SLV Munich) took over the administration of the Berufs-Bildungs-Zentrum. Since the BBZ was based in the tri-city area „Burglengenfeld - Maxhütte-Haidhof - Teublitz“ the decision for the company name fell on BBZ-Städtedreieck (BBZ Tri-City Area). In the year 2001 Lehmer Group (based in Bruck, Upper Palantine) acquired the vocational workshop of Bayernwerk Schwandorf and merged with the BBZ-Städtedreieck. The result was the BERUFS-BILDUNGS-ZENTRUM (BBZ) Schwandorf. In 2006 the Rädlinger Group with its company headquarters in the city of Cham, which is active in several fileds of the construction industry, took over the BBZ-Schwandorf. Since the realignment of the company group in 2019 the educational institution is member of the Werner Rädlinger Group.
